Valley Portrait is a Mount Vernon Portrait Photography Company owned and operated by Edmund Smith & Teresa Redd that specializes in photography of weddings, families, and high school seniors. We blend traditional portrait and contemporary photojournalistic styles to create images that truly capture the essence of our subjects through beautiful and artistic photography.

Edmund Smith is the Lead Photographer and owner of Valley Portrait. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in photography from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 1991.

He has since been involved in the field of portrait photography over the last 18 years, initially in San Francisco and then for many years in the Seattle area. In 2003, Edmund moved to Skagit County, married Teresa, and founded Valley Portrait. Edmund's background in photojournalism, studio portrait photography, and fine art photography all contribute to his expertise behind the lens. His work has an emotional, artistic, classic style that is as contemporary as it is timeless.

Teresa, who is also a local full time high school art teacher, acts as an Artistic & Busniness Consultant and provides valuable support in a variety of other areas of Valley Portrait.

We are also proud to introduce Jennifer Fryer as our new Assistant Wedding Photographer. Jennifer lives in the Bellingham area with her husband and daughter and has extensive experience professionally photographing weddings in the Whatcom County area. Her photographs are evocative and powerful. She is a great photographer in her own right and we are pleased to have her as an addition to Valley Portrait.
